Timing treatment effect of acetylene was studied on mung bean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] sprouts upon their hypocotyl width and length, radicle length and the number of secondary roots. After 14, 38, 62 and 86 hours of germination one basket of the samples was treated with 3000 ppm. acetylene gas for 24 hours. The germination and treatment were done in the dark and in a closed plastic bucket from February 10-15, 1981 at the Central Laboratory and Green House Complex, Kasetsart University, Kampangsaen Campus, Nakornprathom. The 62 hour treatment had the fattest and shortest hypocotyls and the shortest radicles which equaled to 0, 307, 3.83 and 4.53 cm.
