Insecticides efficacy against cotton aphid and their infestation effect on yield and quality of cotton.

Cotton variety S12 was sown in two sets of experiments during June 1989. Efficacy of carbosulfan, dimethoate, pirimicarb, monocrotophos, chlorpyrifos, quinalphos, phosphamidon, methidathion and primiphos methyl against the attack of aphid was determined. Out of these, carbosulfan, methidathion, monocrotophos, dimethoate and phosphamidon effectively controlled this pest. Aphid infestation enhanced crop maturity and affected lint colour. In addition, boll weight and GOT were reduced. It was concluded that timely control of aphid will provide a good quality seed cotton yield.
