The increasing importance of cereal imports in Sub-Saharan Africa.
1984
Bohman M.
Extract: Sub-Saharan Africa's cereal imports continued to rise during 1977/78-1983/84. Wheat and rice comprise 80 percent of cereal imports, while corn, millet, sorghum, and root crops remain the dietary staples. Foreign exchange availability, Government import policies, and shifts in consumer demand play important roles in determining the level of imports.
