The study was accomplished with winter wheat cultivars: Jugoslavija, Zitnica, Novosadska rana and Osjecanka. The cultivar Jugoslavija excelled significantly the highest spike dry mass. Mineral nutrition caused significant increase of spike dry mass during the whole reproductive period. Cultivars differed in the spike dry mass share in dry mass of the total above-ground part. Under influence of mineral nutrition the spike dry mass share decreased at heading, and slightly changed at milky stage and full maturity. Mineral nutrition caused decrease of spike index at heading, and later on increase in cultivars Jugoslavija and Osjecanka, and decrease in the other two. The correlation between the spike index and grain yield was high and positive among cultivars.
