In an experiment on 60 laying geese nitrogen retention during the repose and laying periods was determined. The birds were fed on 12 compound diets with protein content: 10, 12, 14 and 16% from 3 protein sources: soybean meal, pea meal and skim milk powder. In both periods nitrogen retention in geese rose significantly while increasing dietary protein content. Nitrogen content in eggs was not significantly influenced by feed protein level. The effect of protein sources on nitrogen utilization rate was not significant too.
