Effect of tiller removing on growth and yield of sweet corn, Zea mays L.
1983
Hong J.I. | Park H.W.
This experiment was conducted to study the effect of tillers on the growth of main stalk and yield of sweet corn in transplanting cultivation. Golden Cross Bantam T-75 of 26 days seedlings were transplanted on April 15th, 1982. Tiller removing did not affect the height of main stem, while total length of tiller and leaf area/plant remarkably decreased in spite of increase of remained tiller number and their growth. Yield decrease were markedly shown in case of removing more than 2 tillers compared to check, which were thought to be by the decrease of total leaf area.
