Thirty-three lines of soybean were compared for the following characteristics: yield per Rai (kg), seed weight per plant, 100 seed weight (g), pod number per plant and plant height (cm) in the dry season of 1986 (January-April). The varieties were arranged into a randomized complete block design with two replications. The results showed non significant difference at 95 % level of confidence for each of those characteristics except for plant height. KUSL 20036 produced the highest yield per Rai. KUSK 20028 produced the highest pod number per plant, seed number per plant and seed weight per plant. SJ.5 was the tallest variety and produced the highest 100 seed weight. Combined analysis of the data was from dry and rainy season experiments. The results showed non-significant difference at 95 level of confidence among varieties for each of those characteristics except for 100 seed weight and plant height. KUSL 20036 was the tallest variety and produced the highest yield per plant. SJ.4 produced the highest pod number per plant. KUSL 20023 produced the highest seed weight per plant and 100 seed weight (g). Eighteen varieties were selected from those thirty-three ones. They were grown in the rainy season of 1986 (August-November). The varieties tested were arranged into a randomized complete block design with three replications. The results showed non-significant difference at 95 % level of confidence among varieties for each of those characteristics except for 100 seed weight (g) and plant height. KUSL 20036 was the tallest variety and produced the highest yield per rai and 100 seed weight (g). KUSL 20040 produced the highest pod number per plant, seed weigh and seed number per plant.
