Research was carried out in Amanuban, Timor-Tengah Selatan, Province of Nusa Tenggara Timur from October to November 1991. The purpose of this study is to a proper model as an estimation of weight of heart wood of sandalwood and to obtain information relating to natural regeneration and technical exploitation of sandalwood. Measurement is based on current harvesting of the old stand of sandalwood. Results of the research show that the average heartwood weight of sandalwood is of 19.87 +- 3.34 kg per tree on the basis of dry weight and 22.31 +- 22.31 kg in term of fresh weight. The averages thickness of sapwood and diameter is of 5.21 +- 0.31 cm and 22.58 +- 1.18 cm respectively. From 164 trees observed there are about 439 seedlings which are grown naturally under 59 trees or 36.0 percent of the total observed trees. The average number of seedlings is 2.28 per tree. Variable affecting heartwood weight of sandalwood is diameter, crown base height and the thickness of sapwood. By combining these variables, the following regression equation can be produced: 1. Log BTC = -0.84 + 1.10 log D + 1.31 log T = 0.31 log G. 2. Dt = D -2.g 3. Vt = 0,862 T (Dt/200) 4. BTC = 7963 Vt. were BTC = heartwood weight of sandalwood (kg) D= diameter (dbh) T= crown height (m) G= thichness of sapwood (cm) Dt = heartwood diameter at 1.30 m (cm) Vt = heartwood volume (cubic m).
