Influence of gamma irradiation and Dimethyl sulphate on germination and morphological characteristics of Mathiola incana [Egypt].
1989
Raslan M. | Weheda B.M.
Mathiola incana's seeds were either subjected to different concentrations of dimethyl sulphate (DMS) 0.016, o.025, and 0.05% or exposed to various doses of gamma rays in the range of (5 to 30 kr) to increase percentage of germination and improve of morphological characteristics. Form the present investigation results, it was recommended to subject Mathiola dry seeds either to 0.016% of DMS or they were exposed to 5 kr gamma rays to achieve the best germination, plants height, leave number and flowering aspects. In most cases the chemical treatment was much more pronounced than these radiation exposures. However, 5kr treatment by gamma radiation was superior to the chemical treatments for genetic stimulation.
