Efficacy of insecticides against pests of the medicinal plant Vitex negundo L.
1989
Manimtim J.B. | Ocampo V.R.
Dry and wet season trial were conducted to assess the effectiveness of several insecticides against the pest attacking lagundi (Vitex negundo L.). Only the upper limit of the recommended dose range was applied at bi-weekly interval. Systemic monitoring of the arthropod diversity in lagundi showed ten insect orders irrespective of their family, genus and species. Among the insect pests identified, thrips, lepidopterous defoliators and leaffolders were most likely of economic importance in lagundi. In general, the pyrethroids gave effective control of the insect pests of lagundi. Results also indicated that a biweekly spraying interval may be too long because insect counts were increased by day 7 on the average.
