In order to enable a more successful hybridization and considering the presence of polyploidy in Rose sp., germplasm, the poly ploidy of selected genotypes was measured by flow cytometer and germination and size of pollen from different ploidy level genotypes were investigated. Based on these findings hybrid combinations from parents of different levels of polyploidy were selected and then after crosses between genotypes with different ploidy levels had been made, the level of ploidy in offspring was analyzed. The genome size of F1 population derived from interspecies hybridization of two diploid parents was measured. Results of this study show that by conventional methods of breeding it is possible to get offspring from crosses between parents with different ploidy levels. During this research genotypes were chosen to be used as starting material for further breeding work.
