Nowadays there is a plenty of scientific evidence that mankind lives in an unsustainable manner. More sustainable ways of living can take many forms, from the reorganization of living conditions (e.g. eco-village, eco-city, eco-area), to adaptation of individual lifestyles in order to preserve natural resources (family business and small farms). Family businesses and farms are important because they carry within them basic values which are eternal and universal, such as our relationships with other people and nature. In times of severe economic crisis it is common for many people to return to the parents' homes, due to financial difficulties and job losses. Sustainable development of civilization depends primarily on the sustainability of its economy. Economics is simply an additional tool enabling different values to be measured by the same universal means.
