An average 85% to 93% of breast tumors in cats are histologically malignant, and most of them are classifies as carcinomas. Nearly 80% of cats at the moment of death had metastases in a various organs or lymph nodes. The most important factors in relation to the time of recurrence and patient survival time are tumor size, extent of surgery and grade of tumor. However, due to the high frequency of metastases at the time of surgical treatment, little progress in survival has been reported.
