The Waste Management Strategy for period 2010-2019 and the Law on Waste Management define basic frameworks for the specific waste streams management in the Republic of Serbia, from the moment of their generation till the final disposal, with the basic goal of establishing integral waste management which will be organized in accordance with national and European requirements and standards. Generally, the goals of waste management, therefore also of specific hazardous waste streams management are: the minimizing of waste quantities, the reducing of waste disposal by recycable waste primary separation; the reducing of biodegradable waste percentage in municipal waste disposal; the minimizing of negative waste disposal impact on the environment, climate and public health and waste management upon the sustainable development principle.
