Ilić, N., Gradska uprava grada Čačka, Čačak (Serbia)
Composting system in the city of Cacak (Serbia) developed through two parallel models, which are complementary to one another. One model is based on the development of composting in individual households and the other on the formation and development of the central composting plant. In 2005. and 2006. the pilot project was implemented composting of biodegradable waste in individual households which was purchased through and installed 20 sets of equipment for composting in 20 households. Also, the pilot made composting in Gradsko Zelenilo (aerobic type), and in 2006. the first traps were set up outdoors. Project implementation is achieved through composting of green waste originating from public green spaces (cut trees, grass, collected green...) and composting of biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste. To obtain good quality compost from municipal waste is necessary to carry out the selection of waste at the source. Unsorted waste compost provides poor quality. This compost is loaded with heavy metals, toxic substances, and is not suitable for use in agriculture.
