Consequences of modern technological civilization on environment are manifested through pollution and environmental degradation, due to the large number of contaminants, including mineral oil. Major problem of industry is a disposal of mineral oil due to its toxicity and poor biodegradation. As a result, mineral oils create a need for improving existing and developing new technologies for their removal. In recent years bioremediation is pointed out as suitable technology for treatment of mineral oil, considering the efficiency of the removal process and low cost. An additional advantage of this approach is reflected in the fact that it is green technology, which does not produce harmful by-products. For these reasons, this paper considers the application of biological treatment for wastewaters with high concentration of mineral oil.
