Biogas that is generated as a result of anaerobic stabilization of sludge in the wastewater treatment plant, is commonly used to produce electricity. In this process, it is very important to synchronize the operation of the gas engine and generator, otherwise, the results are disruptions in the production of electricity, and possible damage of the gas engine. This paper discusses the ways to increase energy efficiency of wastewater treatment plant by replacing the mechanical coupling between the gas engines and generator, with hydrodynamic coupling. Based on the performance of coupled gas engines and generator, the calculation of the hydrodynamic coupling is done, so as its 3-D model in the software package CATIA.
