Giant reed (Arundo donax L.) occurs naturally in the fish-ponds and channels in Vojvodina (Serbia). In this paper we discuss potential opportunities, benefits and limitations of using this plant to obtain biomass, compared to the immediate environment and the productive activity of the fish pond. Its above-ground biomass harvest provides the required functionality of the channels network, and harvest residues (parts of steam) can be used for the germination of new plants and its further expansion.
