Influence of nitrogen injection application by CULTAN system on growth progress of spring barley was observed in a three-year small-plot trial at three sites under conditions of Czech Republic. Two treatments using injection fertilization of all nitrogen in one dose (CULTAN system) were compared with two treatments using nitrogen surface broadcast fertilization. Two levels of nitrogen ration 80 kg per ha N and 130 kg per ha N were studied. Dry matter content in aboveground biomass, harvest index and grain yield were higher in CULTAN treatments. Using the CULTAN system decreased length of stalk and thus the risk of stand lodging especially at higher level of nitrogen ration.
