Evaluation des impacts environnementaux du CET de Ouagadougou : rapport preliminaire
BCEOM - Societe francaise d'ingenierie | SahelConsult - Societe d'ingenieurs-Conseils | Dessau-Soprin, Inc., Ougadougou
This is the environmental assessment for the Supplemental Credit to the Urban Environment Project. Some of the negative environmental impacts and measures to mitigate them are described here. Leachates will be collected and treated in order to preserve the quality of underground water. Leachates will also be aerated in order to reduce polluting gases. Some solid waste will be composted and air dried. Waste comprising household garbage and other non-hazardous waste will be buried in an impermeable, waterproof lining at the excavation site. Hazardous, industrial and biomedical waste will be insulated and buried in two waterproof layers. Potentially explosive gases will be filtered with sand. Rainwater will be diverted by drainage systems and water quality will be monitored. Trees and underbrush will be cleared to build access roads, but vegetal cover will be used to obstruct the view of the construction site. Drainage works comprised by a natural hydrological system will divert surface runoff and prevent soil erosion. The report also discusses the increased noise, vehicle emissions, and dust particles in the air caused by heavy vehicle transport, equipment and machinery operation, and traffic congestion.
