People's Democratic Republic of Yemen - Water Supply Engineering and Technical Assistance Project

The project consists of studies to assist the Government in (i) the preparation of water supply master plans for the two largest urban agglomerations, Adem and Mukalla; (ii) the assessment of potential water resources in other populated areas of the country; and (iii) the elaboration of the first construction phase of projects for the improvement and expansion of water supply services in the areas under consideration. The project also includes technical assistance to the Government for the formulation of appropriate administrative structures and financial policies for the national water authority, the Public Water Corporation (PWC), a comprehensive tariff study, and the procurement of equipment and materials required for the studies. A total of 140 man-months ($7,700 per man-month) of consulting services is required. The project presents no special risks.
