In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there were presented the research results of the studies on the determination of crude fat content in feeds (grain, green mass or herbage and silage) according to the Randall's method. In course of the study there was realized an approbation of the extraction device SER 148/6 which was developed by the VELP company, Italy. It is shown that the results of crude fat determination in feed obtained using extraction device SER 148/6 and Soxhlet apparatus di not significantly differ. There was proposed the optimal duration of such operations for fat extraction by diethyl ether, drying of extraction cups pulled out of the device, regeneration of the wasted ether. Research results showed that application of the extraction device SER 148/6 speeded up the determination of crude fat in forages and made this analysis much safer. The duration of some operations for crude fat determination by the SER 148/6 device should be the following: extraction in boiling diethyl ether – 30 minutes; flow-through extraction – 60 minutes; drying of glass bowls pulled out of the extractor at the temperature of 100-105 deg C in course of 60 minutes; regenerated of wasted diethyl ether – 15 minutes.
