Because of a very little extensibility of cell walls even a moderate lowering of water content in a cell led to substantial reduction of intracellular pressure which was displayed in loss of turgor pressure. In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was proposed more objective data concerning state of level of water supply of a plant. Also there was proposed a construction of a sensor of hardness of leaf area which had substantially lower dimensions and mass. Also there was analysed a problem: what kind of turgor pressure caused by water deficit could be considered harmful. In course of the study there were used plants of barley (Hordeum vulgare), cucumber (Cucumis sativus), common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris), and tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum). Research results proved that the measurement of moisture content in plant tissues was insufficient was determination of state of its moisture content. In order to make data more precise, it was efficient to use data on variable leaf fluorescence. It was even much better to use information about the intensity of plant transpiration.
