In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was studied the productive efficiency of application of maize (Zea mays) silage and silages produced from mixtures of Indian barnyard millet (Echinochloa frumentacea) and lupine (Lupinus), Indian barnyard millet and pea (Pisum) in diets of lactating cows. The scientific and economic experiment was realized by the example of milking cows the diet of which consisted of the following: in control group, basically, corn silo (49,8%), cereal and leguminous silo (18,1%), mixed fodders, as the basic energy feed (28,7%) and beet molasses (3,4 %). In the second experimental group the basic forage (48,1%) was the silo from a mixture of Indian barnyard millet and lupine (50x50%), fed to cows in quantity of 42,7 kg per head a day. The different silo mixture was the basic difference between the experimental groups. There was marked positive influence of applied experimental silo mixtures on the consumption of nutrients of the diets, that made it possible to increase the dairy efficiency of experimental cows up to 23,8-24,6 kg of milk, or on 4,8-8,5%, butter-fat yielding capacity – up to 3,55-3,66 that was on 0,08-0,19% higher, than in the control group. Also it made it possible to obtain a positive economic benefit. As a result of application of experimental silos from Indian barnyard millet and lupine there was received 1,9 time additional profit, from a mixture of Indian barnyard millet and peas - 1,7 time.
