Afficher plus [+] Moins [-]anglais. Aluminum (Al) toxicity is the major limiting factor for plant growth and crop production in acidic soils, which cover more than 30% of the world's arable land. Recently, a serious of Al resistance genes have been identified in various plants, such as genes related to organic acid transporters (ALMT1 and MATE), ABC transporters (STAR1 and STAR2) and transcription factors (STOP1 and ART1). Furthermore, overexpression of genes related to organic acid transporter, organic acid metabolism enzymes and other Al-responsive genes in plants have obtained great progresses. The paper reviews the progresses in the research on identification and characterization of plant Al resistance genes and genetic engineering for augmentation of plant Al resistance.
