ESTABLECIMIENTO DE UNA ESCUELA DE CAMPO ECA, EN HORTALIZAS ORGÁNICAS EN LA COMUNA CHILIBULO MARCOPAMBA LA RAYA, QUITO. PICHINCHA. 2007

El establecimiento de la Escuela de Campo de Agricultores ECA en hortalizas orgánicas, se realizó en la comuna Chilibulo Marcopamba La Raya; este es uno de los patrimonios de Quito, cuya forma de vida la hace única. Del 70% de la tierra apta para la agricultura, el 40% se encuentra ociosa y un 30% han sido destinadas para vivienda. Para los talleres de capacitación se utilizó la metodología de las Escuelas de Campo de Agricultores, cuyo principio es reunirse en el campo, lugar que sirve como un aula de aprendizaje y un laboratorio en vivo; asistieron 22 personas, cada 8 días para aprender haciendo. Se evaluó mediante la prueba de “t” de student al 1% y al 5% de error, para comparar el nivel de conocimientos antes y después de la ejecución del proyecto, detectando diferencias altamente significativas; es decir que, la metodología fue la adecuada y se aceptó las hipótesis en términos positivos. También se realizó la correlación y regresión lineal del incremento de Conocimientos vs. Producción de cinco cultivos seleccionados y se obtuvieron coeficientes de valores mayores que los tabulados, demostrando que el grado de asociación o interdependencia entre los conocimientos adquiridos y la producción obtenida en los cultivos realizados fueron significativos; además se constató la formación de un huerto familiar.

Establishment of a Rural School for farmers on organic vegetable production ECA was carried out at Chilibulo, Marcopamba, La Raya; this is one of the Quito’s Patrimonies, whose life style makes it unique. Out of the 70% of land apt for agriculture, 40% is not been cultivated and 30% has been destined to households. For training workshops the rural school for farmers’ methodology was used, which consists on meeting in a classroom constituted by a learning plot, and serves as a real laboratory. Twenty two persons attended every 8 days for hands on learning. The evaluation was carried out by using the Student’s t test, 1% and 5% of error, to compare the participant’s knowledge before and after the project execution, which was highly significant, demonstrating that the methodology used was correct therefore accepting the hypothesis in positive terms. Also, lineal regression and correlation between knowledge increment vs. production of five selected crops were calculated and higher coefficients than those tabulated wereobtained, indicating a significant association between these two parameters. Additionally, implementation of a family orchard was witnessed.
