An experiment was conducted to study the effect of addition of probiotics on feed intake, digestibility, growth and feed conversion efficiency in crossbred (Hampshire x Khasi Local) pigs. Ten weaned pigs were divided into 2 groups of 5 animals each and fed as per requirements. The animals in group1 (control) were not given any probiotics while the animals in group 2 were supplemented with probiotics (Biobloom from Zydus). Probiotics supplementation was not found to affect feed intake, however, it improved digestibility of DM, OM, CP, CF and NDF significantly (P0.01) without affecting the digestibility of EE and ADF. The animals in supplemented group showed significantly higher (P0.01) growth rate and better FCR. The cost of feeding per kg gain was lower in probiotics supplemented group.
