Wheat is a strategic crop in Iran which is the main part in the consuming food of the people. The chemical condition of soil in wheat growing areas is not favor for micronutrient uptake which causes the low yield and quality of crop. Due to high demand and consumption this project was conducted to investigate the road map towards increasing use efficiency of micronutrient fertilizers and enhancing the quality and yield of wheat towards population health in Iran. Results revealed that various cultivars have shown different responses to micronutrient application. Application of Fe, Mn, Zn, and Cu increased the yield, protein content, kernel weight and uptake and concentration of these elements in the seeds. Soil along with foliar application of Zn and Fe could obtain the highest yield. In the chemical fractionation study the residual amount of Zn had the highest portion and the carbonated Zn pool stand in second. Zinc and Mn sulfate fertilizers could suppress the take all disease. Zinc had a significant effect on wheat growth under saline condition. Molybdenum and silicon had no effect on the yield and its components. Potassium application could decrease the Cd concentration of the seeds. Cadmium content in soil and seeds of the Fars, Khorasan and Mazandaran was below the threshold of contamination and there is not any hazard of its pollution in the studied provinces. The results showed that micronutrient application based on soil test improves the quality and yield of the wheat in the country.
