Wheat Response to Different Sources and Rates of Phosphorus under Saline Conditions

In addition to the reduction of water availability and toxic ion effects in saline condition, high concentration of salt will normally inhibit the plant nutrition. Suitable application and selection of fertilizer is a managementary method for enhancing yield and resistance of plants to salinity. To determine the effects of sources and rates of phosphorus on the yield and P concentration of wheat a 3-years trial factorial as completely randomized block design in three replications with three levels of N-source and five levels of P2O5-rate was conducted at Khorasan, Fars and Qum in 2003-2006. The treatments were as phosphorus fertilizer from three sourses triplel superphosphate (TSP), ammonium phosphate (AP), ammonium sulphate phosphate (ASP). Phosphrus fertilizer at five rates 0 (control), 60 (75% recommended), 80 (100% recommended), 100 (125% recommended) and 120 kg/h (150% recommended). The result showed that there weren't significant difference between sources of fertilizer. Phosphorus application increased significantly the grain yield. The highest yield was with 100 P2O5 kg/h (125% recommended) but it had not significant difference with 80 P kg/ha. As phosphorus rate increased P concentration and uptake in shoots increased (P0.05).
