Effect of using potassium on wheat yield in drought conditions was studied in this investigation. The experiment was conducted during 4 years in Khorasan and Karaj. Line source sprinkler system was used as an irrigation system. Sprinkler distribution pattern is like a triangle in this method and crop water stress increases by getting away from water supply pipe line. Different water treatments (Four in Mashhad and five in Karaj) were considered to show no water stress (I1) to high water stress (I5). Four level of potassium fertilizer used as K0 (Blank), K1 (addition of K2SO4, 50% of soil test recommendation), K2 (addition of K2SO4 equal soil test recommendation) and K3 (addition of K2SO4 150% of soil test recommendation). The soil moisture content was measured in different depth during the growing season, by oven dry method, before irrigation. The amounts of irrigation water in all the treatments were measured by Catch-can. The type of sprinkler was Rainbird-30. Analysis of results from Mashhad showed that potassium fertilizer had no significant effect on yield under different water stress level. Using of potassium fertilizer had no nutritional effect on wheat grown in Mashhad and Karaj. It showed that the amount of available potassium in these soils were greater than critical level. Analysis of experiment results from Karaj during 4 years showed that water stress affected yield significantly. Interaction between potassium and water stress was no significant. Application of K could not reduce the water stress effects on wheat yields significantly. These results showed that at least in these two farms, application of K fertilizer more than soil test critical level, can not affect wheat yield in water stress conditions.
