The focus of the publication is to analyse and understand how different groups of social agents engage in the diverse knowledge systems operating in the natural resource sector in Nepal. It examines how knowledge is developed, documented and applied at different levels of natural resource governance using six case studies from forest, agriculture and water sectors. <br /><br />The book questions the current disparity between traditional/indigenous and scientific knowledge and puts forward a number of propositions to differentiate between systems of knowledge, which include taking into account the social and political power of social actors involved in natural resource governance. <br /><br />Some of the issues examined and discussed in the book include: <br /><br /> agricultural technology development in Nepal contested knowledge and reconciliation in Nepal's community forestry grassroots to policy deliberation action research experience on democratising knowledge in community forestry in Nepal culturally embedded knowledge in irrigation deliberative knowledge interface: lessons and policy implications This publication will be of interest to policy-makers, governance specialists, researchers, academics and natural resource management activists.
