Biological control of the whitefly Trialeurodes vaporariorum W. in pepper production

Present-day requirements in phytomedicine dictate the application of biological control without the use of standard chemicals (pesticides) in plant protection. this way of plant protection is considered to be ecologically and economically the most acceptable. In this study we examined the efficiency of natural enemies in biological control of the most harmful species of Trialeurodes vaporariorum Westwood (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) – the greenhouse whitefly in greenhouse pepper production. The parasitic wasp Encarsia formosa Gahan and the combination of 50% of Encarsia formosa G. and 50% of Eretmocerus eremicus Rose and Zolnerowich were used as natural enemies. They achieved 38-92% of whitefly larvae parazitation after 14-52 days from introduction.
