Based on an Italian expert system (CERCOESY) forecasting models for Cercospora leaf spot disease of sugar beet have been developed. Using temperature and relative humidity and a rough categorisation of regional inoculum as input CERCBET 1 predicts the first occurrence and the spread of the disease in a region.
