The data on food consumption as significant statistical data represents an important indicator of health status of the population. The aim of study was to obtain a retrospective and prospective data on consumption of selected kinds of meat in relation to selected economic indicators. Gained prognosis indicate, that people will have consumed little more beef and less pork by 2015. Detailed analysis of the economic results of the meat department in the reporting period 2004-2009 show, that the meat department in Slovakia recorded the most significant profit/loss improvement in 2009 and after years of losses posted the profit. Significant reserves were observed in capacity utilization.
