In the experiment, the effect of encrustation and pelleting of onion seeds (Allium cepa L.) on laboratory and field germination was evaluated. Control options reached the laboratory germination 72.66. The encrusted seeds showed higher germination than the control by 2%. The highest germination was found in pelleted seed - 77.83%. Field germination of untreated seeds reached a value of 66.83%. Encrusted seeds had the germination higher by about 0.33% and pelleted seed by about 3.33% than the control. Improving the field germination of pelleted seed is real only at high soil moisture. Without enough water, the pelleting material decomposes very slowly, which can result in a reduction of field germination.
