[The Possibility of producing low density Particleboard from River Red Gum woods (Eucalyptus camaldulensis Dehn.) and Determination of Its Physical and Mechanical Properties]

The Particleboards are One of the core subjects upon which the industry furniture in Syria as well as wood fiber medium density (MDF) and wood Allatyh, this still manufacture compressed wood in Syria depends on the waste sawmills as there is in Syria, manufacturers of Particleboard, one in Ghouta Damascus and the other Lattakia in working with a production capacity not exceeding 20 m3 per day. Total production of compressed wood in Syria in 2004 (9000 m3) (FAO, 2004) while the global production in the same year (96.27 million m3) (FAO, 2004). Syria Imported the compressed wood in 2004 (19000 m3) (FAO, 2004), and due to the scarcity of research in Syria in this field we found that it is important to examine the possibility of manufacturing a light-density compressed wood from Eucalyptus wood as it enjoys this kind of wood with properties as a forestry exotic species from Australia. Usually the compressed wood is making from Eucalyptus wood densities ranging from medium (650-800 kg / m 3) However, the production of low density (450-650 kg / m 3) is still not yet Quested. Research objectives: Manufacture of low-density compressed wood of Eucalyptus wood and study the physical and mechanical properties through the study of: _ Particle Size Effect of mulch (small, medium, large) in the physical and mechanical properties. _ The impact of the ratio of the appropriate adhesive used (8%, 10%, 12%) in the physical and mechanical properties. Research methods: The desired branch were required from two trees at the site Muzeireeb and then converted to mulch, wood chips using the form Alrabob machine, then was sort of wood chips sawdust into three sizes (large - Medium - Small) mediated sieves with openings 0.5 cm 0.1 cm, 2 cm. After that nine models were manufactured from compressed wood an average of three plates for - 87 - each sample (12% large, 12% middle, 12% small, 10% large, 10% medium, 10% small, 8% large, 8% medium, 8% small) according to the method adopted standard industrial German (DIN, 1999) and used in research centers wood in Europe to test the possibility of use of a wooden initial manufacture compressed wood, according to manufacturing conditions applied in the factories, the German and European. Then was estimated specifications of the physical and mechanical models for the nine panels manufactured by European industry standards, (DIN, 2000) (Hamid, 2000). and compared with the values of the physical specifications: A - Test the moisture content according to the European industry standard (EN 322). B _ Test the density according to the industrial industry European (EN 323). C - Test the water absorption after 24 hours according to industry standard European (EN 52351). D _Test the Cross-Swilling after 24 hours according to industry standard European (EN 317). Also been tested for mechanical specifications sheet models manufactured in the Laboratory of Strength of Materials for Industrial Testing Center of the Ministry of Industry in accordance with the European industrial standards: - Test of Binding Strength by Standard European Industrial (EN: 310). The statistical analysis of the results has been using the design of Completely Randomized Design and method of analysis of variance ANOVA level of significance 0.05, where it was under study the effect of the proportion of glue used and the size of sawdust wood physical and mechanical properties of the models of compressed wood manufactured using the software Statistica 8 and R. Conclusions: 1 - This research demonstrated the possibility of manufacturing models of low-density compressed wood from Eucalyptus wood physical and mechanical attributes of good and conform to the specifications of the European EN (DIN, 1999).
