[INFLUENCE OF SHOOT TOPPING ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF TWO GRAPE VARIETIES AL BALADI AND AL HULWANI]

The research trials were carried out through the two successive seasons (2010 / 2011 , 2011 / 2012 ) on the two grapevines cultivars Al Baladi and Al hulwani , to study the effect of shoot topping on the productivity and the quality of the two studied cultivars. Summer pruning has been made in two different times, 3 - 5 days after the full blooming at the ending of June and at the beginning of the pea size of grape berries (middle of July). During the first green pruning, shoots were topped by removing 30,45 or 60 cm from shoot tops. Three treatments with three replicates were applied on trees in addition to the control. The shoot tops were also removed, water shoots and aged basal leaves up to the first cluster were removed lateral shoots formed were removed. During the second green pruning, water shoots formed were later on, removed from the vines and outermost lateral shoots were pruned to 1 - 2 leaves left at the bottom. The result of study shows in the two grapevines cultivars Al Baladi and Al hulwani rising in the percentage of opening buds and it is fertility after carrying out of shoot topping in all its levels in comparsion with the year that does not carry out this operation, where first treatment gots (30 cm) on the proportion of opening buds larger than a control and less than other treatments, also achieved the medium treatment of shoot topping 45 cm at the highest value for the coefficient of fertility absolute followed by treatment first (30 cm), which excelled in yield and quality compared to the control and other treatments, obtaining the highest value of leaf area and the average weight of the bunch and the amount of production and the percentage of total dissolved solids, and less value to the proportion of acids removable calibration addition give the fruits of early maturity compared with the fruits of the two treatments second, third and early fruits of the control, who gave a large number of shoots a sterile but the fruit was of average quality and the best of the
