Soilless culture, known as hydroponics, offers an alternative way to plant growers who faced soil and waterrelated problems such as soilborne pathogens and pests, soil and water salinity, chemical residues, nutrient deficiency and water shortage in soil. Since hydroponic systems are designed to recirculate nutrient solution in closed devices, plants in these systems can be exposed to the risk of diseases caused by water-transmissible pathogens. In this review, diseases caused by plant viruses, particularly in hydroponic systems, are summarized briefly.

Hidroponik olarak da bilinen topraksız tarım, toprak kaynaklı birçok hastalık ve zararlı, toprak ve su tuzluluğu, kimyasal kalıntı, besin elementi noksanlığı ve kuraklık gibi toprak ve su ile ilgili problemler yasayan yetistiriciler için bir alternatif üretim sağlamaktadır. Hidroponik sistemler, genellikle kapalı sistem ve besin eriyiklerinin sirküler olarak sürekli kullanılması seklinde dizayn edilmektedir. Bu yüzden hidroponik sistemlerde bitkiler, su ile tasınabilen patojenlerin neden olduğu hastalıklara maruz kalabilmektedir. Bu derlemede, özellikle hidroponik sistemde bitki patojeni virüslerin neden olduğu hastalıklar kısaca özetlenmistir.
