In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus by means of intervarietal hybridization of table beet (Beta vulgaris) there was created a valuable cultivar Vesta which surpassed the yield of standard cultivar Prygazhunya on 21.7%. The variety is middle-ripening. The form of a root crop is cylindrical, pulp - dark red, juicy and gentle. The content of dry matter makes up to 13-15%, the amount of sugars - 9-11%. According to the results of three-year competitive variety testing of perspective variety samples (2004-2006) there was selected a middle-ripening variety Gaspadynya with the following parameters: productivity of root crops of 36-61 ton/hectare. The economic efficiency of cultivation of the presented new red beet varieties Vesta and Gaspadynya was calculated. Cultivation of new varieties Gaspadynya and Vesta shows that its provides increase of profitability on 24-26%.
