Some microelements have long been known, but only quite recently they were recognized as substances necessary for life. These elements include chromium, which takes part in the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was analyzed the optimal level of introduction of chrome (chromic sulphate (III), 6-chromic liquor) into diets of breeding sows and its influence on the reproductive abilities. The article presents data of research into the influence of different doses of chromium on a number of hematological indicators of sows: erythrocytes, leukocytes, hemoglobin, calcium, phosphorus, glucose, general protein. The data of research showed positive influence of chromium on the examined indicators. Research results showed the optimal chrome level in diets of breeding sows was 20 mg per 1 kg of dry matter of a diet. The dose made it possible to increase the fertility rate – 11.7 heads, litter weight at birth – 14.3 kg, the average live weight of a piglet at birth – 1.22 kg, milking capacity – 57.5 kg.
