Preparation the Flora of Kurdistan province

The above study was carried out in Kurdistan province during 2005-2010. Kurdistan province with total area about 28000 square kilometers placed in west to north-west of Iran. Special ecological conditions which have more than 900 mm. precipitation in west forest zone and semiarid region with about 250 mm. precipitation in east, which placed in steppe and semi-steppe region, and so different topographic condition with high mountains about 3300 m. and low lands with about 700 m. caused exist coprehensive biodiversity in Kurdistan province. The main aim of study is providing a reference for researcher, students, and other interested groups who like to know the Kurdistan plants. In the final all reported plants of Kurdistan in different flora and journals and so the existance species in Kurdistan herbarium will be listed, key to diagnosis the families, genera and species will be presented and all genera and species will be introduced. There is an image of species beside its description. Endemic species will be determined. Special habitats of Kurdistan and their species will be introduced. Results show, there are 101 flowering family by having 2110 species in Kurdistan. Between the endemic species of Iran, there are about 264 species in Kurdistan and about 58 species of them are endemics of Kurdistan. Families: Compositae, Papilionaceae, Gramineae, Labiatae, Umbelliferae, Cruciferae, Caryophyllaceae, Rosaceae and Boraginaceae by having 280, 273, 163, 138, 130, 109, 105, 81 and 73 species respectively have more species than the others families.
