Effect of different treatment methods of aerial part of potato on fattening performance of Kurdish ram lambs

Potato vein is one of the agriculture by products that is produced in large quantity in Kurdistan province. In this study, effect of three different methods, including dry potato vein, dry potato vein plus 6 percent of molasses and fresh potato vein silage were studied in three treatments with seven Kurdish male lambs in each treatment. This trail was investigated on growth performance, digestibility characteristics, daily dry matter intake and feed conversion ratio in 21 Kurdish male lambs with 240-270 days old and 35 kg initial weight. For statistical analyze a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 7 replications for each treatment was used. The lambs were fed for a period of 85 days and animal were weighed with 21 days interval. Digestibility experiment was performed for 7 days. The results showed that average daily gain, daily dry matter and average feed conversion ratio of the lambs for treatment 1, 2 and 3 were 174, 172and 139 (gr/day) and 1395, 1477 and 1178 (gr/day) and 8.1, 8.6 and 8.7 respectively and there were significant difference between treatments (p0.05). The digestibility experiment showed that dry matter, organic matter, crud protein, gross energy, crud fat, crud ash, crud fiber, NDF and ADF digestibility were greater in first treatment. Based on the results of this experiment, male lamb fed with dry potato vein treatment, had better growth performance
