The effects of long-term different tillage methods and crop rotation on physical and chemical properties of soil

Fulfillment of a suitable tillage methods and crop rotation are two factors important management that they can effect on soil physical and chemical properties. This investigation was carried out to test effects of long-term different tillage method and crop rotation on physical and chemical properties of soil, based on a completely randomized factorial block experiment with three replications at Mahidasht Agricultural Research Station for 5 years (2005-2009). The experimental variables including three methods of tillage (no-tillage, chisel and moldboard) and three different rotation (wheat-corn, wheat-canola and wheat-sufflower). In this project, in order to examine and determine the changes created in physical and chemical properties of soil were studied two depths 0-15 and 15-30 cm. Soil physical and chemical analysis including bulk density, total porosity, EC, pH, CEC, N, P, K, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu and organic matter were measured. The result showed that using the tillage factor in the first, second and third years wasn,t become significant differences but using the chisel and moldboard method are preferable than no-tillage method, instead of, using the tillage factor in the fourth and fifth years was become significant so that using the no-tillage method, in the fourth and fifth years also in total five years is much preferable due to improving the soil physical and chemical properties. Also, wheat-canola rotation improve the soil physical and chemical properties more than the other rotation. Therefore application of no-tillage + wheat-canola treatment is recommended for the area in long time.
