Effects of organic mulching on growth and yield of two of Thymus under Damavand dry farming condition species

In this study the effects of some kind of mulch on yield of Thymus daenensis & Thymus vulgaris and Weed control during 2008-2010 were evaluated this experimental was cunducted in a randomized complete block design with three replications with five treatments consis of chopped straw mulch, wood chips, leaf compost plastic mulch eraluated. The results showed that the effect of mulch on the dry weight, oil yield, oil percent, and dry weight of weeds and retain soil moisture was significant these treat meuts were effective inhibiting the growth of weeds. The comparison showed that these treatments on specially black plastic mulch reduced production costs while increasedquality and quantity of thyme.
