In other to study genetic diversity and climatic effects on characters of native watermelon seed of Iran and investigate on relation between dormancy and seed characters in 127 accessions of National Plant Gene bank of Iran has done during spring 1990. Enough seed could be produced during Three years due to Seed dormancy. Result of seed germination with three methods; On paper, between paper and in sand in two replication indicated that there is dormancy in native watermelon seeds and seed characters like seed size, 100 seed weight and seed volume had correlation and negative effect on dormancy. Planting in sand with 30 % humidity had the best result in germination. Germination had positive and significant correlation with seed length, 100seed weight and seed wide. Statistic analysis showed seed characters had good diversity in this population and different climate had different effect on watermelon seeds. Some accessions that belong to dry and semidry condition have similarity in seed characters than the other belongs to moderate and hot dry area
