Investigation on the efficacy of some herbicides in controling Arum orientalis.

Arum orientalis subsp. Amoenum became an important broadleaved weed in citrus field in Khoramabad research station these years. This study were carried out in Khoramabad research station. The experiment was conducted in complete block design with 4 replications. Treatment included: Paraquat (3 L/ha) + %2 Urea, Glyphosate (4 L/ha) +%2/5 oil, Bentazon (3 L/ha) and 2,4-D (2 L/ha). These herbicides were sprayed in April 2003. The early stage after spraying, 2,4-D caused malformation, Bentazon caused necrosis that started in margin of leaves. Paraquat caused necrosis too, and in that time Glyphosate caused any obvious symptom. But based on dry weight of weed in next growth season , these results showed that Glyphosate+oil and Paraquat had a good phytotoxicity but Bentazon and 2,4-D didn t have any significant differences with control. Glyphosate and paraquat had more effect in summer whereas 2,4-D and Bentazone had more effect in winter during both years of experimentation.
