Fertilizing trial on Tectona grandis in Sabak Bernam

As the cultivation of Tectona grandis is practised widely among the small holders and planters, fertilizing trials on these species is necessary for the cost effectiveness of the investment. The present experiment carried out in Sabak Bernam found that application of a total of 240g nitrophoska yellow as three applications per year was the best for improving the growth of this species in terms of height and stem diameter. Application of slow release fertilizer, Basacote, at a rate of 50g once a year, however, recommended for the same purpose if there is a shortage of labour.
