Automobile fuel and emissions are closely linked to environmental pollution. To promote a cleaner environment, automobile fuel should be efficiently used with low exhaust emission. Fossil fuels (petroleum fuels) produce higher exhaust emission and these emissions can be reduced with improved efficiency. The use of biofuel (renewable fuel) on the other hand, produces lowe exhaust emissions. Hence, energy conservation and environmental concern dicate the choice between the use of renewable energy and fossil fuel. A global effort can strongly be expected to implement biofuel as alternative fuel for diesel engine. However, implementation would be best undetaken finally in urban areas to reduce environmental pollution on a large scale. This paper presents results of exhaust study a multi-cyliner diesel engine fueled with blended oils containing ordinary diesel oil (OD) with 10-50 percent of ordinary coconut oil (COIL). The results showed that coconut oil blended fuels produced lower exhaust emissions in comparison to base fuel OD
