The objective was to evaluate the use of coarse ground rice straw (GRS) as the main fiber source by mixing with green chopped Napier grass (CNG) in ratios of 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:50, or 100:0 of dry matter in total mixed ration (TMR). In the first trial, two fistulated Holstein friesian cows were used in randomized block design to evaluate treatment effect on disappearance rate and effective degradability. The result indicated that disappearance rate was similar among treatments (P0.0%) while effective degradability decreased as rations of GRS to CNG increased (P0.05). In the second trial, ten Holstein Friesian lactating cows were assigned in repeated measurement in completely randomized design to evaluate effect of treatments. Results indicated that all treatments had no effect on milk yield, milk components and blood metabolites (P0.05).
