Ethnobotany of the Jakun tribe in Sg. Bebar, Pahang

The peat swamp forest of Sg. Bebar, Pahang is very much dwelled by the indigenous people from the Jakun tribe who still rely on the forest resources for their living. Local herbalist, village elders and many members of the community were asked to name all plants which were commonly used in their daily life. 57 species in 52 genera and 38 families were recorded with various uses viz., food, medicine, spice, oil, poison, ornamental, fence, firewood, polish, wrapper, construction and ritual. Of these, 12 species are medicinal, 8 species are edible fruits, 6 species are vegetables while the remaining species being multipurpose in use.
